Large spray booths are commonly used to paint trucks, locomotives and boats plus used in many industrial applications. Standard Tools offers a variety of cross-flow, semi-down (a.k.a. modified downdraft) and side-down draft booths. A large truck paint booth is often made in a custom size and has custom features<\/a> such as an air makeup unit<\/a>, specific light and door locations and drive-thru doors. Standard size large spray booths are available, but many customers will require custom sizes<\/a> due to either the available space or the item being coated.<\/p>\n

Below are some options are criteria that affect size options:
\n1. Installing a large truck paint booth is a sizable investment. The booth size should allow for potential growth.
\n2. Large spray booths<\/a> require support frames that are part of the booth structure. These frames protrude 5\u201d or 7\u201d beyond the outer dimensions of the booth, depending on the span of panels being supported.
\n3. Side-downdraft booths<\/a> have external exhaust plenums located on the lower side walls.\u00a0 Exhaust fans are typically located on top of the exhaust plenum boxes.\u00a0 The boxes can be made narrower if a higher number of smaller fans is used instead of fewer but larger fans.\u00a0 Multiple fans cannot easily be manifolded into common exhaust ductwork.
\n4. Cross-flow<\/a> and semi-downdraft booths<\/a> have four options for exhaust plenums:<\/p>\n

a.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Internal box- internal box of filter grids reduces inside length by 27\u201d<\/p>\n

\nb.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Horseshoe \u2013 Exhaust filter stacks are located in the internal corners and are manifolded under the single fan<\/p>\n

\"Horseshoe<\/a>
\nc.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Chimneys \u2013 Two internal filter chimneys are ventilated by two fans.\u00a0 Manifolding exhaust ducting is not allowed.\u00a0 This is very useful when large exhaust ducting is a problem due to building factors like purlin spacing.<\/p>\n

\"Chimneys\"<\/a><\/p>\n

d.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 External Box \u2013 Rear wall of the booth is smooth and the exhaust plenum is located outside of the spray area.\u00a0 This options offers a lowered plenum that is useful for low building heights.<\/p>\n

\"external<\/a><\/p>\n

5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Front doors require support panels on either side.\u00a0 Generally these panels are 30\u201d wide (making the booth inside width 5-ft greater than the door width).\u00a0 Support panels can be 24\u201d wide for doors less than 14-ft high (making the booth inside width 4-ft greater than the door width).
\n6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Personnel (or egress) doors are required in every 25-ft radius.\u00a0 Wider booths require more personnel doors than narrow booths due to the radius factor.\u00a0 Conflicts with nearby structures (beams, walls) and the personnel doors should be verified.
\n7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Spray booth doors can be made in single-style or bi-fold style.\u00a0 The bi-fold is require for door widths greater than 15-feet overall.\u00a0 Bi-fold doors can allow the spray booth to be located closer to walls\/doors near the front of the booth.<\/p>\n
